SALARY WAGE: $23.60 to $27.57 per hour
Plan, lay out, fabricate, modify, repair, assemble, and install sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies and to perform welding work in the manufacture, repair, modification, and assembly of various types of metal and alloy parts, equipment, systems, and structures.
Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities. Develop patterns, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs items and systems which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes.
Using a variety of welding processes such as oxyacetylene, electrode arc, submerged arc, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, metal spray arc, and spot and stud welding to join all types of common metals and alloys.
Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders. Sets up clamping fixtures.
Operate and maintain complex hand and power tools and equipment such as sliproll forming machines, box and pan brakes, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, and crimping, burring, turning, and beading machines, and soldering and welding equipment to fabricate and repair items.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures, and complies with established safety rules and regulations.

SPECIALIZED
Experience: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-12) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include using advanced engineering concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple inter-related and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines; mastery of aerospace vehicle test and evaluation techniques and long range planning to serve as a Technical Director; knowledge and experience in test and evaluation programs; and the ability to plan, conduct and report on aerospace vehicles, weapon systems and related items in a test and evaluation setting. To qualify, there is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate enough experience in your application to show you possess sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform Maintenance Mechanic duties such as the ability to plan, lay out, fabricate, modify, repair, assemble, and install sheet metal parts, items, perform welding work inthe manufacture, repair, modification, and assembly of various types of metal and alloy parts, equipment,systems,
and structures.
The screen out element for this position is: the ability to do the work of the Maintenance Mechanic position without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to do the job of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT)
2. Knowledge of sheet metal shop mathematics; a wide range of welding principles, processes, standards, and difficult techniques; and how various metal alloys react to different welding processes.
3. Knowledge of safety and environmental standards, regulations, and requirements.
4. Skill in formulating plans, patterns, and templates involving straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, pitch, and planes; planning, laying out, and pattern development (including geometric projection and triangulation) and construction to assemble, disassemble, manufacture, and repair sheet metal systems, components, and items; and fabricating complex items from a variety of materials such as galvanized or stainless steel, black iron, aluminum, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material, and alloys.
5. Skill in using and maintaining a variety of sheet metal and welding tools, equipment, and measuring instruments; and assembling, fabricating, and repairing sheet metal systems, components, and items.
6. Ability to inspect and evaluate structural damage to sheet metal systems sufficient to plan and accomplish repairs; and weld dissimilar metals including parts and structures that vary in size, shape, and thickness.
7. Ability to read, interpret, and use drawings, blueprints, diagrams, sketches, instructions, and technical specifications; adapt to new technologies affecting sheet metal mechanic work; and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
_PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE_ : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

_ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT_:
The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
The employee may be required to maintain current certification to perform various types of welding work. Welding proficiency is verified by destructive and nondestructive testing of welds.
May be required to train and/or guide lower grade employees. May be required to be certified for working with and/or removing hazardous materials.
May be required to be certified in as line and/or high-pressure steam lines. May be required to be certified in hoist inspection maintenance.
This position is designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force civilian drug-testing program. As a mandatory requirement for employment in this TDP, the incumbent is to (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if required, submit to urinalysis testing. The selectee must sign statements acknowledging the position is identified as a TDP.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work encompasses strenuous physical exertion when bending and shaping the more complex items and in constructing larger and bulkier material. Requires physical effort which includes prolonged standing on production lines, climbing up and down ladders and scaffolds; stooping, kneeling, crawling, stretching and working in cramped and awkward positions, while installing items or when welding in hard to reach or confined spaces, Frequently handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 50 pounds with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employee works inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are dirty, greasy, smoky, and subject to a moderate amount of noise. Is exposed to fumes, heat, flying sparks the glare of torches, ultraviolet radiation, and heated materials. Possibility of eye injury, electrical shock, bruises, falls, broken bones, burns, and the chance of cuts. There may be discomfort when wearing protective clothing, safety shoes, gloves, flash shield or eye goggles, and other equipment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
