NDDOT Pay Range: $3,257 - $4,332/monthly (DOE)
This position qualifies for an oil patch add-on payment of $484.20 per month.
External applicants are eligible for a recruitment bonus of 2 months salary.
The candidate that is selected for this position may be granted moving allowance provisions in accordance with Human Resource Policy 14.4
Underfilling at the Highway Traffic Control Specialist I level may be considered; salary dependent on experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Highway Traffic Control Specialist II): Requires a high school diploma or GED, and two years of experience in the installation and repair of traffic control devices.
Under Filling Requirements (Highway Traffic Control Specialist I): Requires a high school diploma or GED, and two years of experience demonstrating technical and mechanical abilities for the position.
Employee hired must have a valid Class B driver's permit with air brakes the first day of work. The employee will then have 30 calendar days to take the behind-the-wheel exam and get the class B driver's license with air brakes. The district will make the equipment available for the employee to practice driving during these 30 days.
Requireswork after hours, on weekends, and holidays during road and weather emergencies is required;

Summary of Work
Operate sign erection track and equipment and install, repair or replace signs, markers, delineators, guardrails, fences, etc.: Ability to erect signs, markers, delineators, guardrails, fences, etc., efficiently and within guidelines (with Basic Knowledge Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices). Approximately 65 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
Keeping book work records and entering traffic control sheets into computer: Keeping accurate and complete records of inventory and square footage of signs and posts installed. Approximately 15 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
Operate truck mounted striping machine and portable marking machine: Ability to apply pavement striping paint on highways and pavement markings. Ability to maintain and repair striping and marking equipment. Approximately 20 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
